MedDiet Go! Strengthens Mediterranean Collaboration through Networking Events and Meetings

15/11/2024

The MedDiet Go! project is dedicated to integrating the values of the Mediterranean Diet (MD) with innovative tools to enhance stakeholder awareness, particularly in the fields of sustainable tourism and gastronomy. By promoting sustainable practices and fostering collaboration across Mediterranean regions, the initiative aims to create a more resilient and interconnected approach to regional development.

As part of its launch, a seminar was held during ecologicaKOK in Seville, a renowned event focused on sustainable and ecological gastronomy. This gathering brought together key regional stakeholders, alongside project partners, including the Chamber of Commerce of Seville (lead partner), Fundación Dieta Mediterránea, the Institute for Comprehensive Development Solutions – E-Zadov, Puglia Region, ELORIS S.A., ADRAL – Agência de Desenvolvimento Regional do Alentejo and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vratsa. During the meeting, partners emphasised the importance of engaging local communities and businesses to ensure the project’s long-term sustainability. Through strategic partnerships with regional stakeholders, MedDiet Go! aims to extend the adoption of Mediterranean Diet principles well beyond the project’s duration.

Building on this momentum, a second networking event took place at the Interfood & Drink Exhibition in Sofia, a key forum for the food and beverage industry in Southeastern Europe. Running alongside major industry events such as MEATMANIA, THE WORLD OF MILK, BULPEK, and SALON DU VIN, the exhibition served as an ideal setting for fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and discussions on sustainable food manufacturing and market trends.

As part of this event, MedDiet Go! organised a workshop titled Attracting Rural Tourism through Sustainable Food Manufacturing, which provided a platform for sharing insights, lessons learned, successful models, and best practices. The workshop focused on enhancing the attractiveness of rural tourism through sustainable food practices, reinforcing the project’s mission to create lasting social and economic impact across the Mediterranean region.

With these successful networking events, MedDiet Go! continues to strengthen partnerships and expand its reach. Looking ahead, the project will build on these discussions to develop new strategies and initiatives that further integrate Mediterranean Diet values into sustainable tourism and regional development.
