3rd Living Lab by the Mediterranean Diet Foundation: eating patterns and sustainability

02/10/2025

The Mediterranean Diet Foundation has organized a Living Lab as part of the MedDiet Go project, with the main focus on how the Mediterranean Diet’s eating pattern contributes to the sustainability of a territory.

THE LIVING LAB

The working session highlighted the importance of consuming seasonal and local products, not only for their nutritional value but also for their role in protecting the environment, boosting the local economy, and preserving biodiversity.

It also emphasized the need to promote knowledge about typical local products, understood as an essential part of each territory’s history, culture, and identity.

The Living Lab brought together an interdisciplinary team of professionals from the fields of health, science, and nutrition, who shared their perspectives and experiences. The meeting made it clear that the Mediterranean Diet is much more than a nutritional guideline: it is a model that connects a healthy lifestyle, sustainability, and culture.

Once again, the value of the Mediterranean Diet —recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity— is reaffirmed, inviting us to reflect on how our daily choices can make a difference in the future of our territories.
