Living Labs in Vratsa: Digital Innovation and Gastronomic Tourism within the MedDiet Go Framework

27/11/2025

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vratsa, Bulgaria, has organized two key seminars as part of the Co-creation Living Labs of the MedDiet Go project (Interreg Euro-MED Programme), bringing together tourism stakeholders, SMEs, young people, and experts to explore the future of sustainable tourism in the region.

“Digital Tourism: When Traditions Meet Technology”

This Living Lab explored how innovative digital solutions can preserve and enhance Mediterranean identity. Participants exchanged experiences, ideas, and good practices from initiatives such as MD.net, discussed thematic routes, and took part in an interactive “Idea Hub” session. The closing panel outlined key visions and challenges for the future of digital tourism in the region.

“Where the Mediterranean Meets the Mountains: Bulgaria Through the Flavours of Tradition”

This Living Lab brought together SMEs, organizations, and tourism experts to discuss how gastronomic tourism can become a driver of regional development by combining innovation with tradition. Good practices from the MD.net network, featuring more than 60 innovation initiatives, were presented, along with ideas for new tourist routes and products that blend Mediterranean identity with local cuisine.
Both events reflect Vratsa’s commitment to sustainable tourism innovation, connecting cultural heritage, gastronomy, and technology to strengthen Mediterranean identity in Bulgaria.
